Setting Up Payments

Kolva Club works with Stripe for card payments and GoCardless for UK Direct Debit. You can use one or both. Most clubs connect both.

Which should I use?

Stripe (cards) — Best for one-off payments, taster sessions and shop purchases. Card payments are confirmed straight away and paid out to you on Stripe's usual schedule.
GoCardless (Direct Debit) — Best for recurring monthly fees. Lower fees. A new Direct Debit usually takes 1–3 working days to activate. UK bank accounts only.
Both — Recommended. Use Direct Debit for monthly fees, cards for everything else.

Settings → Payments also shows a Mollie option. It is a backup for clubs whose GoCardless application is rejected or delayed, or that take a lot of card payments. Talk to us before you use it.

Connecting Stripe

Go to Settings → Payments
Click Connect Stripe
You'll be redirected to Stripe to create or connect your account
Complete the Stripe onboarding (business details, bank account for payouts)
Once done, you're redirected back to Kolva Club

You connect your own Stripe account (Stripe Connect Standard), so you keep full access to your Stripe dashboard. Kolva's 0.75% is taken automatically on each payment and the rest goes to your Stripe account. If the card says Setup Incomplete, click Complete Setup to finish Stripe's onboarding.

Connecting GoCardless

Go to Settings → Payments
Click Connect GoCardless
Complete the GoCardless Connect flow
Once connected, parents can set up Direct Debit mandates from the parent portal

GoCardless may need to verify your account first. The card shows Verification in review while they check. Our GoCardless guide has more detail.

Fees

Kolva Club takes 0.75% of each payment collected through Stripe or GoCardless. There is no monthly subscription fee. On top of that, your payment provider charges its own fee. Settings → Payments shows the typical all-in cost for each: about 2.25% + 20p for a UK card payment, and about 1.75% + 20p, capped at £4, for a Direct Debit payment. Card fees vary with the type of card, so check Stripe for your own rates.

Viewing your Stripe dashboard

From Settings → Payments, click Dashboard on the Stripe card to open your Stripe account. Here you can see payouts, transaction history, and manage your account.
