Setting Up Payments

Kolva Club supports two payment processors: Stripe for card payments and GoCardless for UK Direct Debit. You can use one or both.

Which should I use?

  • Stripe (cards) — Best for one-off payments, taster sessions, shop purchases. Instant settlement. Higher fees per transaction.
  • GoCardless (Direct Debit) — Best for recurring monthly fees. Lower fees. Takes 3-5 business days to process. UK bank accounts only.
  • Both — Recommended. Use Direct Debit for monthly fees, cards for everything else.

Connecting Stripe

  1. Go to Settings → Payments
  2. Click Connect Stripe
  3. You'll be redirected to Stripe to create or connect your account
  4. Complete the Stripe onboarding (business details, bank account for payouts)
  5. Once done, you're redirected back to Kolva Club

Stripe uses Connect Express, which means Kolva automatically handles the 0.75% platform fee. The rest goes directly to your Stripe account.

Connecting GoCardless

  1. Go to Settings → Payments
  2. Click Connect GoCardless
  3. Complete the GoCardless Connect flow
  4. Once connected, parents can set up Direct Debit mandates from the parent portal

Platform fee

Kolva Club charges a flat 0.75% on every payment processed through the platform. There is no monthly subscription fee. The platform fee is deducted automatically from each transaction.

Testing

Both Stripe and GoCardless have test modes. When first connected, you can process test payments to verify everything works before going live.

Viewing your Stripe dashboard

From Settings → Payments, click View Stripe Dashboardto access your Stripe account directly. Here you can see payouts, transaction history, and manage your account.
